I am currently working in the Close Protection industry and have done so for a number of years. I have taken previous courses in Israel and Switzerland as a Close Protection Operator, it is highly important to possess the SIA licence, even for a Close Protection Operator abroad.
After long months of research and having spoken to many people working in the industry, only one course came up all the time, and that is the Longmoor Group Close Protection course. I strongly recommend this course to anyone interested in Close Protection. When you first look at training courses you look at the instructors backgrounds, the Longmoor Group's instructors are all highly experienced Close Protection Operators and ex RMP, with great knowledge of what Close Protection really is. They have experience in every type of environment including hostile zones. You will be taught Close Protection in the most professional and discreet manner.
The course content covered everything there is to know, and it was straight to the point. The accommodation was of a high standard, the food was great and the location was ideal and intelligently chosen. This was the best way to learn and do great drills.
After this course, I strongly believe the Longmoor Group's Close Protections course is the best on the market today.

It was pleasure for me to attend the Longmoor Groups course, be part of the team and working with the instructors for those 3 weeks. I hope to be working again for Longmoor in the future! It was big challenge for me to be on the Close Protection course, I have learnt a lot and it was extremely useful for me. The accommodation and food was brilliant, no problems whatsoever. I liked Longmoor standards because of its high level, intensive, highly skilled and challenging course, that's what I will be looking for in future Close Protection Officers! I gained great experience on the Firearms training in Slovenia.

Having left the Army over 16 months before attending the Longmoor Group Close Protection course I was very apprehensive as to my ability to complete and pass a course that came highly recommended as being one of the best in the business.
The location of the 1st two weeks was the Tangley, Hampshire. The accommodation was of the highest standard and comprised of two man rooms with ensuite shower. All course students were placed in adjacent rooms, which facilitated a sense of coursemanship almost immediately. Three squares were provided by our host from a menu with an excellent selection, this method of feeding shows the personal touch that was very apparent throughout the course.
The course content and delivery was pitched at a level that placed all students at ease, regardless of background. This was achieved by the continual referral to experiences gained by the course trainers, but also the ability for students to have input in all areas of the course. Questions and students opinions were encouraged throughout every delivery in all Close Protection modules of the course.
The Hostile Close Protection package was delivered in Slovenia. The whole package was once again delivered to cater for all experiences. The ability of trainers to coach students with no firearms experience, whilst also fully testing those on course with years of firearms experience is testament to the ability, patience and thoroughly professional approach to the job shown throughout the course.
I highly recommend anyone that shows any interest in a career change in this direction to contact Longmoor Group for a professional and honest insight into Close Protection, with a course that prepares you in all aspects of the job.

From the onset, it was clearly visible that the Longmoor Group were not running an, "Old Boy" "Face Fits" in relation to individuals who attend the Close Protection course, The UK phase accommodation and surroundings were of the highest standard, the hospitality and the sheer absence of possible local distractions were superbly chosen. The instruction of the security Industry Authority (SIA) core competences were delivered with a wealth of knowledge and experiences from all instructors, to back up all theory lessons. In 12 years serving with the British Army's Airborne Forces, I digested more in four long theory and practical based days in first aid lesson's, than ever before. The practical Close Protection Operator routines and foot drills, along with extensive location and venue recces were demanding and again experienced based, in order to deliver the correct instruction.
By far the most enjoyable and physically challenging, aside of the long hours spent in UK, was to be the Tactical Firearms Course. From day one, the instruction yet again lived up to expectation. The understanding that this was yet to be another military range week, were soon to be erased from all students thoughts. I can't really comment too much on the Tactical Firearms Course other than to say, vast amounts of experience and knowledge was passed onto students, in a safe and realistic environment. The ranges were simply the best week's tuition to any weapons and tactics I have had.
The Longmoor Group Hostile Close Protection Operator course has given me and fellow students the knowledge and practical experience to undertake and build on our own personal skills. All instructors involved are ambassadors for both the Private Security Industry, and the Regiments/Corps and civilian enforcement agencies they represent.
